Lancashire operator Moving People has gained DVSA Earned Recognition status. MOVING PEOPLE

The Lancashire coach and school transport operator has become the first in its local area to attain Earned Recognition status from the DVSA

Established in 2007, Moving People says it is proud to announce that it has achieved DVSA Earned Recognition accreditation, which it says is a significant milestone that underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Based in East Lancashire, Moving People undertakes a range of transport services, including daily school runs for over 4,000 pupils per day, coach hire, day trips and door-to-door UK coach holidays. To earn DVSA accreditation, the company underwent a rigorous independent audit covering all aspects of its operations, from vehicle maintenance and driver checks to operational planning and compliance with drivers’ hours regulations. As part of the scheme, the company will be required to share monthly KPIs with the DVSA through accredited software, ensuring continuous compliance and offering transparency, providing the DVSA with real-time visibility into operational performance.

There are currently 132 PSV and HGV operators in the scheme nationwide, and Moving People believes it currently the only private hire and school transport operator in Lancashire to achieve Earned Recognition status.

Managing Director Glen Chamberlain said: “I am incredibly proud of the whole team; obtaining this accreditation would not have been possible without the continued commitment from everyone involved. We’re lucky to have such a fantastic bunch of drivers, mechanics, and office staff working to move people safely and compliantly.

“I often relate this to a school or college opening the door to OFSTED or the Department for Education and providing them with virtually live data of an organisation’s performance. Therefore, the systems and processes that back up our day-to-day operations need to be effective and robust to ensure we maintain continued compliance.

“The obligations and regulations surrounding a bus or coach operator are significant and stringent. However, the issue lies in that there is very little, comparatively speaking, in the way of checks to monitor compliance and road safety, making it very difficult for a customer to know who they are really booking.

“In practice, operators are frequently asked to confirm their own compliance but are very rarely checked, resulting in widespread and systemic failings which put passenger safety at serious risk. At Moving People, we understand the importance of transparency, safety, and compliance in the transportation industry. Our DVSA Earned Recognition Accreditation assures our customers that they are booking with an operator committed to the highest standards of safety and reliability.

“This accreditation is a testament to our dedication to safety and excellence. It signifies our commitment to providing the highest standard of service and compliance in the industry. Our team’s hard work and dedication have made this possible, and we are incredibly proud.”
