National Express Bus (NX Bus) has been awarded 4* stars in the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM Recognised for Excellence) programme following a successful assessment.

NX Bus has said that it clearly carried out key activities to ensure skills, competencies and people performance levels were far above the acceptable standard.

Criteria included three key areas known as Mission, Vision and Values. NX Bus clearly created a defined and balanced profile of results that have evolved in recent years.

Safety and growth performance was ranked highly in the results category for the operator. The results also claimed that the operator had impressive efficiency and effectiveness of the key processes and how these combine to create strategic goals.

NX Buses’ data has been used well and there are benchmarks in place to help drive creativity, innovation and improvement.

There were examples of how the organisation has restructured over time to help deliver the strategic goals, including recent new roles being introduced at more senior levels, such as Chief Operating Officer and Operations Support Manager.
