The names of finalists for the National Transport Awards have been announced, including many representing the coach and bus sector in many categories. Among the nominations for the best bus service award are Flixbus, Grant Palmer, McGill’s, Norfolk County Council, Stagecoach East Scotland, Transport for London and Transport for Wales.
Nominated in the Excellence in Road Safety category are Lothian Buses, Stagecoach East and Transport for London, whilst in the Design, Engineering & Construction Project of the Year category, separate entries for National Express West Midlands and Transport for West Midlands compete against a number of other projects. The Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HiTrans), Translink, Brighton & Hove and Metrobus, the Campaign for Better Transport and First Bus all have nominations in their name, whilst staff from Brighton & Hove, Stagecoach Highlands, Transform Scotland, Transport for London and Transport for West Midlands are nominated for individual awards.
Leicester City Council’s Leicester Buses Enhanced Partnership is also among the nominees, whilst in the Bus Operator of the Year category, East Yorkshire Buses, Go South Coast, Lothian Buses, McGill’s, Nottingham City Transport, Stagecoach East Midlands, Stagecoach South and First Cymru are all vying for the win.
The awards ceremony will take place on 5 October.
