First West Yorkshire is beginning to roll out a fleet of 10 new buses across Huddersfield.

The single deck Wright-bodied Volvo B7RLEs will be used along the 328 route between Balmoral Avenue and Bradley, via Huddersfield. They carry leather seating, free WiFi while meeting Euro 5 emissions standards. Buses previously used on this route will now be transferred to other parts of the network in Huddersfield, enabling First to dispose of the oldest buses across the district.

First invited customers to share their views about its services at a ‘Meet the Customer’ event on August 7, where First managers were available for six hours to meet bus users in person. One of the new vehicles was at the event for people to look at and to ask questions about.

Jo Powell, Depot Manager for First in Huddersfield explained: “This was a great opportunity for passengers and potential bus users to speak directly with bus company managers responsible for buses in Huddersfield.

“We value what people tell us and feedback from the travelling public is always welcome to ensure that we can improve the delivery of our services.”

While the new buses are beginning to be rolled out now, the official launch date is August 20, when First will hold another special customer day specifically to show its passengers how to use the onboard WiFi.
