Parking space available from 11 August 2018, with Blackpool Transport to provide a supporting ‘Park & Glide’ service

After 18 months of working in partnership with Blackpool Council, Blackpool Airport and Blackpool Transport Services, the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has confirmed that a new coach parking facility will officially open at Blackpool Airport on Saturday, 11 August 2018.

The coach park, located at FY4 2QS, is on the site of the old P2 car park – 10 minutes from the M55. It will open daily from 0900 – 2300hrs, with a day’s parking charged at £20. Overnight stays can be accommodated at the price of £35 for operators booking in advance.

The coach park is monitored by CCTV and onsite security, with toilets and refreshments located nearby for drivers.

Blackpool Transport will also be trialling a supporting free ‘Park & Glide’ service which will transfer passengers to and from the town centre and major attractions.

The coach park opening coincides with the Blackpool Air Show weekend from August 11-12, and coach drivers parking at the site during this weekend will be given a complimentary day ticket for use on all Blackpool Transport buses and trams, as well as receiving a voucher for free tea and coffee and 20% off main meals at the nearby Air Balloon pub.

Sue Mullen, CPT’s Manager for the North Western region, said: “This is great news for coach operators and their drivers, and also the tens of thousands of day-trippers and holiday makers they bring to the town each year.

“The safe and secure parking site is ideally located close to both the M55 and town centre attractions, and with the supporting trial of the Park and Glide service, visiting Blackpool by coach has never been easier.

“Having worked closely with Council and Airport officials over the past couple of years, it is clear that all parties fully understand the vital role that coaches and coach tourism play in reducing congestion and supporting the local economy. Blackpool continues to demonstrate that it is extremely worthy of CPT’s Coach Friendly status.”
