Meanwhile in West Yorkshire, sister operation Team Pennine has unveiled Denby Darts as the brand name which it will begin the promised transformation programme for customers in Kirklees and Calderdale from Sunday 25 July, when it takes over the two-depot Yorkshire Tiger operation and its 163 staff from Arriva. New route D1 will link Denby Dale, Clayton West and Skelmanthorpe with Huddersfield with what Transdev says will be much more than just a new name. The Denby Darts route will be run with a new-look fleet of bright pink buses brimming with customer-friendly features, launched as part of Team Pennine’s mission to create buses people are proud to be seen on.
Transdev CEO Alex Hornby said: “From day one, we are here to make a positive impact for all of our new customers. Our transformation begins with Denby Darts, our first new branded bus route, which will launch on the first day we start running as Team Pennine. The first thing everyone will notice is the orange buses on the current service 233 between Denby Dale and Huddersfield will be replaced by smart new-look buses in our eye-catching bright pink livery – but this is much more than just a change of colour. On the inside, our Denby Darts buses will feature free WiFi, USB power for mobile devices at each seat, audio visual next stop announcements to make sure no-one misses their stop, and comfortable seats with leather headrests. And, apart from a few morning rush hour changes to improve timekeeping, we’ll continue with the same route and times everyone is used to. All of our improvements will come at no extra cost, as fares will remain unchanged, with the added bonus that we can now offer our wider selection of Transdev tickets, including our popular go-anywhere Daytripper and Gold ranges. We can’t wait to meet our new customers, and we’re looking forward to bringing them our new Denby Darts.”
