Germany’s Deutsche Bahn (DB) is to begin running a double-decker night bus service from Dusseldorf to London Victoria via Antwerp three-times a week from next month.

The service will commence on May 21 and follows a successful trial over the Christmas and New Year period.

DB had previously planned routes to London via high-speed trains. However, by the time the appropriate permissions were granted the company’s interest had cooled.

Coaches will depart London’s Victoria Coach Station on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays and return from Dusseldorf on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays. Journey time is expected to be around 10 hours.

Modern 72-seat double-decker coaches with space for a wheelchair user will serve the routes, and are equipped with power sockets and free WiFi.

DB is offering this route in collaboration with DB Arriva, the DB subsidiary for regional transport in Europe.
