Canberra is to take delivery of 90 more Yutong electric buses TRANSPORT CANBERRA

AUSTRALIA

The city of Canberra has made what it says represents a major step towards its goal of a fully electric bus fleet by 2040, with the order of a further 94 battery electric buses to increase its e-bus fleet to 106 over the next three years. Local partner Vehicle Dealers International will supply 90 Yutong E12 single-deckers, and is currently in negotiation with Australian bodybuilder Custom Denning to procure four further Element battery-electric buses, along with associated charging infrastructure.

The city says its first 12 electric buses have already travelled over 100,000 kilometres in their first few months of operation, and it has commenced work to upgrade local grid infrastructure to supply a new depot at Woden and the existing Tuggeranong depot to allow the charging of up to 300 electric buses.
