VDL says it is close to launching its new Futura 3. VDL

NETHERLANDS VDL says its forthcoming Futura 3 has entered the final test phase before introduction, with systems, details and experiences being carefully validated to meet the market’s highest standards. The manufacturer says the final step will pave the way for the proud unveiling of the new Futura, which will offer a new generation of performance, safety and comfort to redefine the future of travel.

Describing its development process as featuring Vision Driver, Vision Passenger and Vision Operator focus points, VDL says it is excited to be moving forward to the next chapter of the introduction of its latest model. The manufacturer says the model will initially feature a diesel engine, but that it plans to go further and the Futura 3 will be a platform for the future. “This is just the beginning of our journey towards alternative propulsion systems,” the manufacturer says. “Futura 3 is designed for the future.”
For operators whose needs are more immediate, VDL promises high reliability and uptime, whilst minimising scheduled maintenance to once a year or every 100,000 kilometres.

Inside, VDL says the new Futura’s seats will give a feeling of being at home, and that levels of comfort and luxury are based on a living room philosophy, to encourage social interaction and create a sense of home. “Most living rooms do not use the bold patterned seats found in coaches today. The upholstery for Futura 3 is therefore based on ‘keep it simple and clean,” the company says. “The luxurious feel is created by the details, such as the stitching, the ton-sur-ton designs and the quality of the fabrics. Attention has also been paid to the choice of the rest of the interior materials, such as the upholstery of the side walls and the colour scheme of the mouldings. In addition, the new designer seat has the option of mood lighting in the back of the chair. A new and unique addition to the product.”
