Iveco Bus is to supply new Heuliez GX 337 H2 LINIUM buses to the Cannes Lérins Urban Community, with deliveries scheduled to start in the second half of 2025. The new zero-emission BRT buses will extend the fleet of 35 GX ELEC electric buses already in operation on the local Palm Bus network, which is now adopting hydrogen technology.
The Cannes Lérins Urban Community has been operating a fully decarbonised bus fleet (107 vehicles) since June 2023 using electric power and biofuels, and has chosen to produce and distribute clean hydrogen, starting in 2025 by installing a production station in Cannes – a first in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. On completion, 41 buses will be able to be fuelled with clean hydrogen.
“We are very proud to have been selected by the Cannes Lérins Urban Community for the supply of these 12 new GX 337 H2 buses,” said Giorgio Zino, Head of Iveco Bus Europe Commercial Operations. “This renewed trust confirms Iveco Bus’ excellence in zero-emission mobility solutions, and in particular hydrogen technology.”
The GX 337 H2 LINIUM features a 100kW fuel cell and hydrogen tanks paired with a 69kWh battery for a range of up to 450km. It is described as a ‘mid power’ design which its manufacturer says reduces hydrogen consumption by 15 to 20% compared to market standards, while offering excellent thermal comfort and a passenger capacity of up to 110.
