New Irizar UK headquarters to be built in Nottinghamshire

Irizar is showing its continued commitment to the UK market with the development of a new site at Blyth, just off the A1 in Nottinghamshire.

This development, the first phase in the construction of what will ultimately become Irizar UK Ltd’s new headquarters, comes as Irizar Group celebrates 130 years of transport and engineering heritage.

The first phase of development will see the construction of a secured yard to hold stock coaches together with a sales office, while the main technical and administrative functions are retained at the current head office in Worksop. Irizar UK’s relationship with Johnson Brothers remains in place, with Johnsons offering service support and parts through Masterpart. Customers will be welcome to visit the Blyth premises five days a week to view all Irizar UK’s stock vehicles, new and used, in a single location.

To ensure continuity of supply and price stability through Brexit, Irizar has assigned an allocation of special edition i6S Integral coaches to the UK, which will arrive prior to October 31.

Built to celebrate Irizar’s 130th anniversary, the 12.9 m coaches feature DAF’s advanced MX-11 300 408 bhp engine, and ZF EcoLife automatic transmissions. A choice of 53 or 57 seaters will be available, and luxury touches include USB points and leatherette panels to the seat sides.

Julie Hartley, Sales Director of Irizar UK, said: “We are delighted that we are able to start the development of the site at Blyth, making it more convenient for our customers to visit the sales team and view all of our stock, new and used, in one centralised location, ahead of further future development of what will become the new home of Irizar UK.”

Gotzon Gomez of Irizar Group said: “This is a significant development in the presence of the Irizar brand in the UK and indicates the increasing importance of the British market to the Irizar Group.

“We are delighted by the progress made in the UK, with approaching 500 vehicles sold, many loyal repeat customers and plenty of interest from fresh prospects attracted by the style and quality of our vehicles and their dependable and efficient DAF/ZF drivelines.”
