Go Ahead’s Southern Vectis has launched a late night ferry connection service from Fishbourne to the Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight bus operator will provide a drop-off for those sailing at 0100hrs to Portsmouth, there will also be a bus calling in at 0050hrs to pick up passengers using the 2359hrs Wightlink ferry service from the mainland.

Matt Kitchin, Southern Vectis General Manager, said: “We know people’s travel plans don’t end on the stroke of midnight, and we want to make it as easy as possible for those travelling between the mainland and the Isle of Wight late at night.

“The new service will form part of our winter timetable. We’ve worked closely with Wightlink – following feedback from the ferry operator’s customers and this is an excellent example of integrated transport.

“Services will now make sure passengers have this extra opportunity to travel to the Fishbourne terminal, safe in the knowledge they’ll be able to complete their journey across the Island by bus – even at this late hour.”

The 9 service calls in at Fishbourne at 0034hrs on its way from Ryde. The return journey departs Fishbourne at 0050am on the journey to Ryde.
