Portsmouth has relaunched its park & ride service with a new look.
PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL

Portsmouth City Council has unveiled a new design for its park & ride service, with a new blue and pink colour scheme for the double-deck buses dedicated to the route. Working with operator First Bus Solent, the council has also introduced improved ticketing options for those travelling to and from the car park, which sits just off junction 1 of the M275. Route PR1 runs every 15 minutes and connects to key destinations in the city including The Hard Interchange, the Historic Dockyard, and Gunwharf Quays.

As part of the council’s renewed contract with First Bus Solent for the next five years, the new-look buses maintain Euro VI environmental standards and are fitted with high-backed seating, USB charging, and next-stop announcements. Alongside the refreshed branding, passengers will benefit from improved ticketing options, with tickets available via the First Bus app, RingGo parking app, or from the driver using cash or contactless payment. Portsmouth Council will also launch a new website to promote the service.

Councillor Peter Candlish, Cabinet Member for Transport at Portsmouth City Council, said: “The new look and enhanced ticketing options for park & ride make sustainable and affordable travel into the city easier and more accessible for everyone. With the refreshed branding, I’m sure these park & ride buses are set to become a recognisable feature in our city and a key part of the Council’s overall plan to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality, as we work towards a greener, healthier and better-connected future for everyone.”
