The Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has announced a new grading structure for Approved Driving Instructors. Instructors will be graded as Pass, Grade B or Grade A with A being the highest level of competence.

The old Check Test will be replaced from April 7 by a new Standards Check that focuses on whether an instructor is delivering training that meets the National Standard for Driver and Rider Training.

Driver trainers will be seen at least once every four years, and those who consistently fail to meet the standards will be removed from the register.
