BRAZIL

State of São Paul operator Rápido Sumaré has received its first new 55 buses from Iveco Bus. The operator is a part of the Belarmino Group, one of the largest transport conglomerates in Brazil.

Equipped with Iveco’s 17-280 chassis, the new buses form part of the company’s fleet renewal strategy. It expects that a further 18 will be delivered during the year. “Being chosen by a group such as Rápido Sumaré confirms that we are on the track to increase our presence in the Brazilian urban market,” said Iveco Bus Vice President for Latin America Danilo Fetzner. “We are ready to meet the demand of important customers such as the Belarmino Group, offering competitive solutions and products that are attentive to needs.”

Designed to offer a high degree of economy, the 17-280 chassis is equipped with an FPT Industrial N67 Euro VI engine. The locally-built chassis has been developed specifically to meet the needs of Brazilian operators. The new 59-passenger vehicles are being bodied by Mascarello, and will also introduce a new identity for public transport in the region with a livery inspired by the colours of the city’s flag.
