Fife farmer Andrew Whiteford has set up the Pittenweem-based Bonnie Bus Company to operate weddings and private hires. The first vehicle in the fleet is new to London Transport 1950 AEC Regent III/Weymann RT-type, which came from well-known Yorkshire-based enthusiast Tony Blackman.

“I realised how much interest there is in old vehicles and I got married recently,” said Andrew. “I was also lucky enough to have somewhere to keep a double-decker undercover and it has attracted so much interest. There’s nothing really quite like it around here – we only have Stagecoach.”
Andrew passed his transport manager’s CPC to set up his new venture and the RT, which undergoes eight week inspections, is maintained locally. It had been a static tea bar near Saffron Walden, Essex for many years before being acquired for preservation and restored as a bus.
Andrew added that under renovation at the moment is an AEC Routemaster that has been a mobile bar in Finland and will continue in that use.
