Norfolk County Council (NCC) has confirmed that the westernmost section of the A1270 Norwich Northern Distributor Road (NDR), between the A1067 Fakenham Road and the A140 Cromer Road, will open to traffic this coming Saturday (November 11).

Martin Wilby, Chairman of the NCC’s Environment, Development & Transport Committee, said: “There’s growing confidence in the construction team that a further stretch all the way to the A1151 Wroxham Road will be open around Christmas or soon after the turn of the year, and that the whole of Norwich NDR will be open as planned in the Spring (2018).”

NDR is a 20km (12.5-mile) dual carriageway under construction since January 2016. It runs from the A47 at Postwick, South East of Norwich, to the A1067 Fakenham Road North West of the city. The route (excluding the Postwick Hub, which is already complete), has been developed by NCC. It is a key infrastructure project in both the Greater Norwich Joint Core Strategy and the ‘Transport for Norwich’ plans drawn from the Norwich Area Transport Strategy.
