The industry has lost a respected coach salesman, with the passing of Minis to Midis’ Alan White. The 65-year-old lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday (January 10) evening.
Paying tribute, his son Paul Gardner told CBW: “Dad turned 65 last March. He intended to retire in 2018, something he was looking forward to. The succession plan was already in place.”
With that in mind, it is business as usual at the Doncaster-based dealership. Paul remains General Manager, Kathryn White is Company Secretary and Steve White continues as Sales & Operations Manager.
Paul continued: “Dad wanted to keep his illness and funeral private, which we’re respecting. Donations in his memory however, can be sent to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Doncaster.”
Poignantly, Paul said: “In hospital, you have a lot of time to talk. In his final hours, despite being it being the darkest time of his life, he said the industry had been great to him. He was proud of all the people he met, as well as his own achievements and those of the company. He recalled all the places in the British Isles his life had taken him to and the people he’d met. That side of it was warming.”
Paul stressed: “I’m open to people talking to me about my dad – I welcome calls.”
