Castleford-based Pelican Engineering, UK importer of Yutong buses and coaches, has announced the passing of long-standing colleague Keith Chadwick, who brought Pelican into the coach and bus industry. In a statement, Pelican said:
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our esteemed colleague Keith Chadwick. He passed away yesterday following a brave battle with motor neurone disease.
“Our flags have been lowered to half-mast today as a mark of respect for Keith who was much loved by everyone at Pelican and he will be sorely missed, particularly by those that worked most closely with him. Keith was a hugely appreciated member of our Pelican family.
“Keith worked for Pelican for many years and he guided Pelican into the bus & coach industry from the offset. He was our chief engineer or to give him his official title our ‘Yutong Field Service Manager’. Highly skilled and respected, Keith could honestly claim that there was no technical problem on any bus or coach that he could not diagnose and fix.
“Bob Elliott, our Sales manager said: ‘I was really gutted when I heard the news. Keith was the type of guy that nobody ever had a bad word to say about him. He was a great team player and brilliant at his job. He will be greatly missed by everyone, particularly myself and Phil Hodgson who worked very closely with Keith over the years.’
“Keith’s daughter and family are in our thoughts today. RIP Keith”
