Respected former CPT North West Regional Manager Phillipa Kirby-Girdlestone has passed away.
Phillipa left CPT two years ago to pursue a calling within the Methodist Church. Her untimely passing came on October 22 following a short battle with illness.
A celebration of Phillipa’s life took place on Friday (November 13) at the Vale Methodist Church, Appley Bridge, Wigan. This church is where Phillipa completed her practical training to be a Methodist Deacon.
In a statement, CPT said: “Phillipa joined CPT in 2008 and was our first full-time Regional Manager in the UK. Phillipa’s strong business skills and genuine interest in the bus and coach industry, combined with a warmth of character which was greatly shaped by her faith, was the bedrock of her life. Our thoughts are with Phillipa’s close friends and family at this sad time.”
CBW’s Editor Gareth paid tribute: “I was saddened to hear of Phillipa’s untimely passing. She was always lovely to deal with it – she went out of her way to be helpful. In addition to a number of initiatives that benefitted the industry on her patch (such as coach parking provision), she organised several interesting bus summits, which were more than worth attending. Her passion for the industry was all too apparent.”
