The original owner ran London contracts before being taken over by MTL London Northern in 1995 and passing to Metroline two years later.
The bus enjoyed a second career with East Yorkshire Motor Services before passing to Dave Atkins in Kent for cruise ship shuttles. Those services and the bus were taken over by YMS Travel in 2015.
“This bus has given excellent service,” said YMS Director, James Wilford. “It’s an incredibly well-built vehicle and deserves a good home, hopefully in preservation. Changes in legislation mean we can’t operate the bus regularly.”
YMS Travel was founded in 2012 and now runs some 20 vehicles – coaches, minibuses, single and double-deckers and AEC Routemaster RML2751 – on a wide variety of contracts including cruise connections, though James has been organising school transport since 1995.
