Leyland Olympian has clocked up almost 35 years’ revenue earning use before being bought for preservation. JONOTHAN RUDDICK

A Leyland Olympian still in regular use after nearly 35 years has been bought for preservation by a new owner with special memories of the vehicle. ECW-bodied B741GCN was new to the Gateshead depot of Northern General in 1985 and ended up working for Go Northern at Bishop Auckland. The bus was sold to Johnson’s around 2004 and operated in the fleet of subsidiary Redfern Travel.
