An Essex operator has added a rare Leyland Olympian coach to its private hire fleet, joining a rather contrasting example of the marque, reports Nick Larkin

Panther Travel has expanded its premises at Freshfields, Harwich, making more space for service and preserved vehicles as well as adding a new vehicle to its private hire fleet, which joins a rather contrasting example of the marque. The operator also has an outstation at Colchester.

D511 DPU, a Leyland Olympian ONTL 11 with Eastern Coachworks CH45/28F body and new in 1986 to Eastern National, was one of a three strong batch (D510-12 DPU) joining similar vehicles B688-697 BPU delivered the previous year. The vehicles were used mainly on commuter services from Essex to London.
