Coach and Bus operators across the UK have shown their support for this year’s Poppy Appeal

As ever, operators across the UK have shown their support for Remembrance Day by adorning their vehicles with the poppy symbol. Transport for London launched a fleet of specially-liveried buses in partnership with its operators in support of this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal ahead of Remembrance Day commemorations, which will take place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November.

Among them was Stagecoach Enviro400City 12538 from its Ash Grove Garage, which formed part of a line up outside the former Battersea Power Station, alongside buses from Metroline, Go-Ahead, RATP Dev and Abellio.

Nationwide, Stagecoach has long been a supporter of veterans and is to offer free travel for military, cadets and ex-military personnel on 11 and 12 November as well as continuing to highlight the work of its employee led Veterans Network.

Stagecoach Chief Operating Officer Sam Greer said; “Stagecoach is proud to have thousands of veterans in our employment, so recognising the significance of Remembrance Weekend with free travel is essential. Remembrance Day and the Poppy Appeal are causes close to the hearts of many of our employees and customers and we are very pleased to be making this commitment that will hopefully help people to attend memorials across the UK.”

Sam Berkson, National Account Manager for Defence Relationship Management, added: “I’d like to thank Stagecoach for this public and very visible commitment to the Armed Forces community. It is clear that Stagecoach recognises the benefits of being a Forces-friendly employer and I look forward to their continued support for Defence and advocacy for its people.”
