TURKEY
Turkish manufacturer Otokar is to supply a fleet of 100 21-metre articulated Kent C buses with 200-passenger capacity to serve the city of Istanbul. Delivery of the buses is being carried out in lots during 2022.
The Kent C is latest addition to Otokar’s vehicle line-up, designed to meet big cities’ growing public transport needs. The low-floor buses feature outward opening doors, a high roof, spacious interior, and powerful air-conditioning. Drive is provided by a Paccar MX-11 Euro VI engine. The new buses will operate on the dedicated 52km express bus lane in Istanbul called Metrobüs, which offers a rapid, low cost east-west bus service for the city’s inhabitants. It is the first transcontinental BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system in the world, connecting Europe with Asia, and carries around 1,000,000 passengers per day.
