MALTA Turkish manufacturer, Otokar is to supply 142 buses through its subsidiary Otokar Europe to CUNISA (Unified Concessions SA) the ALSA of Spain subsidiary that now runs Malta’s buses. The concession had been won by Autobuses Urbanos de León S.A, a subsidiary of ALSA and part of the National Express Group.
The buses will be 9.6m Euro 6 Vectio Cs, a medium-size low-entry two-door integral with a wheelchair ramp, automatic transmission and wheelchair ramp.
A subsidiary of Koç Group, Otokar has been trading since 1963. and has a factory on a 552,000m2 site in Sakarya. It employs 2,300 people. In 2014 it was the market leader in Turkey for the fifth consecutive year. Otokar Europe was established in Paris in 2011 to serve the European market.
