Bus company heads who are members of the Ten Per Cent Club are reporting that fare-paying passenger numbers on commercial services for the last week of May continued recovering and reached 68% of pre-pandemic levels, representing the best result since monthly monitoring began in September 2020. It represents an increase of 6% on the result for April and 20% since March when the figures were 48% and 62% respectively. Fare payers on tendered routes have jumped from 51% in June to 61% in May while concessionary passenger numbers are now back to 52% on commercial routes and 49% on tendered services.
