Bournemouth-based Passenger has developed a new website which will benefit bus users in Newport

Bus users in Newport, Wales are set to benefit from the latest in transport technology as Newport Bus launches a new website in partnership with Passenger.

The website allows travellers to easily access up-to-date information to help plan their journeys, including live bus tracking and disruption alerts.

Tom Quay, CEO at Passenger commented: “We’re continuing to extend our services to more bus operators across the UK, delivering bespoke technological solutions to benefit different operator sizes and needs. Newport Bus is highly regarded for its top-quality customer service, so we’re delighted to help enhance this offering through the launch of their new website, which prioritises efficiency and ease of use for travellers.

“As Passenger is committed to creating technology to power sustainable transport, we’re also excited to support Newport Bus in their sustainability journey as they recently announced plans to make a third of their fleet electric by the end of this year.”

Newport Bus serves nearly 8 million customers every year and is the main provider of bus services in Newport. The company, which has been in operation for nearly a century, runs nearly 50 services throughout the city, including routes to Cardiff and Cwmbran.

Morgan Stevens, Operations Director for Newport Transport, said: “We’re all very excited for the new website. It’s part of important work to make our bus services more accessible, while remaining inclusive to everyone in the community. Passenger has worked very quickly to deliver a site that will help our users confidently plan their journeys and travel with us. It’s built with bus users in mind and will complement our existing mobile app.

“Onboarding was just as described – pain-free. Passenger managed the data transfer in a seamless way and moving forwards, the easy-to-understand CMS gives us a lot of freedom to manage content ourselves.”

Passenger said that the Newport Bus website, like all Passenger products, will continue to be improved through an ongoing programme of development and updates.
