Yutong dealership Pelican Bus & Coach says it is continuing to be at the vanguard of zero tailpipe emission evolution, with a new pledge to further increase its green credentials. Pelican says it will now also plant 10 trees per electric Yutong vehicle sold in the UK, further helping to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and nurturing biodiversity. “Trees are the ultimate carbon capture and storage machines. A young wood can lock up 400 tonnes of carbon per hectare. In addition, trees can create havens for wildlife, promoting biodiversity,” the company says.
Managing Director Richard Crump explained: “As a family business, future generations are so important to our family ethos. The planting of trees will provide a sustainable positive contribution on capturing greenhouse gases for all our current and future generations.”
Head of Yutong UK Ian Downie commented: “This initiative continues to evidence our commitment to the UK environment. As the world’s leading manufacturer of zero tailpipe emissions buses and coaches, our tried, tested and proven products have already completed 40.7 billion kms of operation. We are proud to continue to lead the way with this sustainable initiative.”
