Former Stagecoach North East Managing Director, Phil Medlicott, is to return to Stagecoach Group as Managing Director of its Midlands operations from July 1, 2018.

Stagecoach previously announced that current Midlands Managing Director Steve Burd is to leave the business in September.

Mark Threapleton, Stagecoach UK Bus Managing Director for England and Wales, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Phil back to the business – he has significant experience of the bus industry, across many different parts of the country, and his knowledge and input will be hugely beneficial as we continue to work hard to deliver even better services for our customers in the Midlands.”

Phil Medlicott began his career in the bus industry in 1983, becoming a driver and then holding a series of management posts at bus companies in Birkenhead, Runcorn and London before joining Stagecoach in 2000 as operations director for Stagecoach South.

He became Managing Director for Stagecoach Warwickshire before spending four years as Managing Director of Stagecoach South East. In 2012 he was appointed Managing Director of Stagecoach North East and in 2016 he moved on from Stagecoach to take up the Managing Director post at First Manchester.

Phil commented: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Stagecoach where I have spent much of my career. Stagecoach Midlands is a great business with great people, and is somewhere I know well from my previous role there, so I look forward to working with the team, and our local partners, to build on the work that has already been done and deliver even better services for our customers.”
