June 2019 saw the world’s attention focused on Portsmouth, as it became a focal point for D-Day commemorations. It was a major embarkation port for many of the soldiers and ships taking part in that event 70 years ago. Yet this is only one facet of Portsmouth that explains why it is attracting thousands of visitors every year – it is a city with hundreds of years of naval history, forts, historic vessels and major attractions such as the Spinnaker Tower.
