Jonathan Welch speaks to Rotala’s Bob Dunn about the history of its Preston Bus subsidiary and its plans for the future, including trials of a Custom Denning electric bus

Preston Bus is celebrating the centenary of motorbus operation in the north-west city this year, and to mark the occasion has painted a pair or Wrightbus Eclipse double-deckers into historic liveries, representing the 1950s and the deregulation era of the 1980s.

The two buses were officially unveiled at a special event at the city’s Flag Market on Thursday 23 June, attended by Preston Bus Managing Director Bob Dunn and Preston Deputy Mayor Yakub Patel, himself a former employee of the company.
