
Like many people, CBW’s Richard Sharman enjoys an annual pilgrimage to the races at Cheltenham; he visited the Gloucestershire town on Gold Cup Day to find out about some of 2025’s challenges
It seems that its been a cold, long and dark winter, but, by the time you read this feature, we are either a couple of days away (for digital readers), or the seasons have just changed if you’re reading this on the day the magazine is released in High Street stores or dropping through your letterbox. Gold Cup Day at Cheltenham Races always seems to set the precedent for the season ahead, and as I head down the M5 south towards the spa town, its always interesting to observe the fleets of PSVs making their way towards the racecourse.
Changing trends?
This is an event that captures every size of vehicle in the industry, and from a small group aspect, the humble Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinters are a very affordable means of travel if all eight to 16 racegoers aboard are chipping in with the cost. This means that they are in abundance, accompanied by all the other minibus brands.
