A rare Sentinel is back in Shropshire for restoration

A well-known former bus industry manager is part of a consortium which has bought a rare Sentinel bus for restoration, reports Nick Larkin

The vehicle in question, GUJ608, has returned to Shropshire, where it was built, for the first time in almost 70 years. The bus is a Sentinel STC4/40, with 40 seat Sentinel bus body on Welsh Metal Industries frames. It is fitted with a Sentinel-Ricardo four-cylinder diesel engine. “We are very pleased to have been able to secure the future of this bus,” said Glyn Bowen, who began his career with Cardiff Corporation Transport Department as Junior Clerk (Stores and Costs Section) at Head Office, Wood Street in 1960.
