Reading Buses has announced it’s to rename the route 7 service to ‘the tiger.’
The newly-branded buses will complement the other big-cat branded vehicles in the fleet – those running on the lion and leopard routes to Bracknell and Wokingham.
The recipients of the tiger branding will be the operator’s fleet of biogas ADL Enviro300-bodied Scania KUB270 single-deckers.
Route 7 runs from Reading Station to Riseley via Basingstoke Road, Three Mile Cross, Spencers Wood and Swallowfield.
Nikki Ball, Marketing and Brand Manager at Reading Buses, said: “The tiger is planned to raise the profile of the 7 service from 3 September – although the buses themselves will be following shortly after the change.
“We are hoping it will encourage more customers to come and join us on board and see how well the tiger performs.
“Since taking over route 7 we have been making tweaks to the service to increase its reliability and we have now just completed our first ‘big’ change for September where we have been able to really look at bus timings and see what improvements we can make.
“Although the buses will follow slightly later, the timetable leaflet is already on buses now ready for the change.
“Bus stop displays are also being updated ready for Monday September 3, so the design of the new tiger will be seen out in the wild very soon.
“The buses will include superfast WiFi and USB charging on board which we hope will be well used by commuters and leisure travellers alike.”
