A bus in Reading has become the first in the world to feature an on-board wireless charger for mobile phones and tablets, according to ITV News.

The Aircharge system is currently being trialled on a Reading Buses double-decker and uses a magnetic field to transfer power when a device is placed on top. With this method, no cables are required.

The phone or tablet must feature wireless charging technology to be compatible.

The trial follows the introduction USB charging points on other Reading Buses routes. The operator said it is planning to introduce more Aircharge units later in the year if the trial is successful.
