Jasper Lee, 23, from Tower Transit Singapore is the operator’s youngest bus interchange supervisor. Maxson Goh finds out what inspired him to pursue the role
When we think ‘bus interchange supervisor,’ the image that comes to mind is often someone older, with decades of experience managing public transport. However, with more young blood entering the industry, there is potential for a shift in this trend. At just 23 years old, bus interchange supervisor Jasper Lee oversees operations inside interchanges and manages the duties of bus captains, a term used for bus drivers in Singapore.
Joining Tower Transit Singapore in 2023 as a bus captain himself at the age of 22, Jasper quickly climbed the ranks to become an interchange supervisor, proving that age is no barrier to success in the demanding field of public transport. Impressive, considering it was his first foray into full time employment. “I was interested in buses from a very young age,” he said enthusiastically. “I met friends from this industry when I was growing up and after my two years of national service, I decided why not just give it a try and see where it takes me.”
