The London Transport Museum says that you can impress your friends and family this Christmas with its stylish new pyjamas inspired by the classic Routemaster moquette fabric first used on the seats of double-decker buses in the late 1950s. This cosy set makes a perfect Christmas gift for shoppers looking for something unusual for their loved ones and is now on sale at London Transport Museum’s shop in Covent Garden and online.

‘Moquette,’ meaning carpet in French, started to be used in the 1920s because of its hard-wearing qualities and the fact that it could be mass-produced for the transport system. This robust material has been seen and sat upon by millions of commuters on buses, trains, trams and trolleybuses for over 100 years, and is still used by Transport for London today.
