Scania is celebrating its 50th order from Leyland, Lancashire-based BASE Coach Sales for a Scania K-series 4×2 chassis to be equipped with a MOBIpeople Explorer body. Scania and BASE Coach Sales began collaborating on sales of the Explorer product in 2018, since when a total of 19 UK customers have taken advantage of the high carrying capacity offered by the vehicle.
The Scania K-series chassis taken by BASE Coach Sales feature Scania’s 9-litre Euro VI engine with power outputs of either 320 or 360 horsepower driving through either ZF’s automatic gearbox or Scania’s Opticruise gearbox. The latest two orders from BASE are for new generation Scania chassis. The MOBIpeople Explorer bodywork can accommodate up to 74 passengers in a 3+2 seating configuration and can be specified in a variety of wheelchair lift and carrying options.
