The Scania Irizar i8 is a new flagship product orientated to the prestige and luxury market segment with an impressive exterior and interior design along with cutting-edge technology. Already more than 1,200 units have been sold worldwide, which represents a great success considering the vehicle was only launched a year ago at Busworld Kortrijk.
Main features of the i8 body are fully multiplexed body electronics, MMI console for entertainment and comfort systems (cameras, GPS, media, telephone and climate), all-round LED lighting, exclusive Irizar new generation seats, a new range of interior trims and a wide range of options. Electrically foldable rear-view mirrors are coming soon.
In the UK the Scania Irizar i8 is offered with three axles, a super high deck (3.98-metres on top of the climate unit) and three different lengths: 13.22-metres, 14.07-metres and 14.98-metres. The flat floor allows the product to be personalised according to needs with 2+2, 2+1 or 1+1 seats combinations. The toilet can be either central sunken or rear floor mounted, in both cases with a central door for better accessibility of all the passengers.
The product on show at Euro Bus Expo is a 13.22-metre overall length vehicle fitted to a Scania K 410 EB chassis. Its features include a central door, central sunken toilet and 53 semi-leather trimmed seats. A wide range of options is also fitted.
