Over the past couple of years, Scania has been updating its coach and bus offering, and the range has now expanded to include a new Interlink, designed for use in urban and intercity environments. It has new chassis and body, and offers claimed fuel savings of up to 8% alongside a range of specification options, safety features, new uptime services and an updated driver area.

The Interlink offers multiple options when it comes to vehicle length and interior layout, luggage compartments, door configurations, classification, powertrains, and more. Options include longer two-axle buses with increased passenger capacity as well as shorter gas buses. “The wide range of low-carbon powertrains is also a part of the flexibility. We provide biodiesel, HVO, biogas, and hybrid options that significantly reduce CO2 emissions today,” explained Karolina Wennerblom, Head of Product Management at Scania Bus & Coach.

The driver’s work environment has been designed to include excellent ergonomics and reachability, improved climate control, as well as numerous safety features. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) offer improved assisted handling, steering and braking, and Scania Zone that ensures driver compliance with speed regulations around schools and elsewhere, increases safety and helps

minimise accidents, contributing to avoiding unnecessary costs. Scania says the new Interlink is highly energy efficient and is able to achieve fuel savings of up to 8% due to its improved engine and gearbox efficiency, with a new stop-start function and cruise control contributing to further reductions.

Uptime is further increased via easily exchangeable front corner panels, improved cleanability, and through the vehicle’s compatibility with the proactive and real-time data-based Scania Flexible Maintenance. Scania describes the new exterior as having a ‘contemporary expression’ with larger side windows, bi-LED or bi-halogen headlights and new sidelights and rear lights. The electric sliding doors are said to offer higher uptime and lower maintenance cost, whilst in the interior new materials have been specified to reduce noise and the climate control system has been designed to minimise energy consumption.

“The new Scania Interlink is sure to appeal to operators with high demands. That it is a sustainable option only adds to the experience,” added Karolina.
