When I think about Sidmouth, having visited many times with coach parties, the word sedate comes to mind. Refined is another way of thinking about the East Devon resort that nestles rather neatly between towering red sandstone cliffs. Certainly, it’s an attractive spot and will suit many a coach traveller that seeks somewhere quiet for a week or the day. Somewhere that isn’t loud or gaudy, because Sidmouth is not the sort of resort where you can say there is a buzz about the place. Oh, dear me, no. Certainly not. It’s more the case that the town gently hums.
