RATP-owned Selwyns Travel will be increasing its fleet by 22 vehicles for use on school contracts awarded to it by Merseytravel.
20 school contracts have been awarded to the company. The contracts will be operating over 63 routes split into morning and afternoon journeys, Monday to Friday during school term time from 29 April 2019. Some examples of the schools Selwyns Travel will be serving are: Calday Grange Grammar School, Weatherhead High School, Our Lady of Pity Roman Catholic Primary School and, Birkenhead Sixth Form College.
In order to operate the schools services, Selwyns Travel are opening a new operating centre in Prenton on the Wirral. Carl Ogden, Service Delivery Director said: “Selwyns Travel are proud to be entering into the market on the Wirral. We pride ourselves on operating safe, punctual and reliable services to our customers in Cheshire and Greater Manchester and now, once again, in
Merseyside. Our new Operating Centre in Prenton will allow us to offer cost effective bus hire options for local residents and businesses, alongside the school contracts.”
Selwyns have added an additional 22, high capacity, wheelchair accessible, double-decker vehicles to its fleet to operate the school contracts. Selwyns Travel is in the process of hiring employees from the local area such as PCV Drivers, Engineers and Engineering Apprentices.
