A new home has been found and the event will return, hopefully for the long term, reports Nick Larkin

Surprise news that will delight many people across the bus industry and preservation movement: Showbus is back! Britain’s first, and to many best, major bus rally is returning, despite organiser Dr Martin Isles reluctantly saying that last year’s event – the 50th – would be the end.

Announcing the comeback, Martin revealed the 2024 Showbus will be held at the Bucks Railway Centre at Quainton on 29 September. In a statement, he said he’d had many disappointed enthusiasts contact him and a few commercial offers to continue the event. “I felt it was inappropriate to rush into things so soon after the ‘last’ event and I have explored the offers and secured what I hope will be a long term future for the event at a great site,” he said. “I will be involved with processing the entries and arranging the display on the day. Gradually I will hand over more and more of the arrangements to the Centre.
