McEwen’s Coaches of Mansfield has been acquired by Skill’s Motor Coaches of Bulwell, Nottingham. Director Nigel Skill described the move as amicable and confirmed John McEwen would remain in place running the business on a daily basis with assistance from Skill’s administration department. Additionally, all staff positions were retained and employment secured.

The acquisition takes Skills’ total fleet to just short of 80 vehicles. Nigel Skill said he planned to keep six of the original McEwen fleet and replace the remainder, up to eight coaches, with vehicles from the Skill’s Holidays fleet – which would dramatically reduce the age profile and upgrade the quality of McEwens. He felt the business had great potential and was a very good fit within the Skills’ family – providing a great opportunity to develop business in Mansfield.
