Jonathan Welch speaks to Miki Szikszai of Snapper Services about its plans for expansion in the UK market and what its Mosaiq analytics platform can offer operators and transport authorities
Data and analytics are increasingly important in the transport industry. A relatively new name to the UK market, though one which has been around in its native New Zealand since 2006, is Snapper Services, a division of ICM Mobility Group, which launched its Mosaiq digital platform at the Transport Ticketing Global show in London in March.
Mosaiq’s Transit Intelligence Suite combines to offer what the company calls a ‘birds-eye’ view of transport networks using an open architecture data processing platform to drive what it says is a simple-to-use cloud-based transit intelligence suite, offering operators a complete and timely picture of movements, network usage and overall operations. The system aims to deliver an accurate big picture of a network, helping to improve passenger and driver experiences, and give easier, faster operational insights, while at the same time reducing the cost, time and frustration of data unification.
The company is headed up by Wellington, New Zealand-based Miki Szikszai, and represented in the UK by Executive Director Jon Salmon. We caught up with Miki while he was in London to find out more about the company and what it can offer to operators seeking to maximise the understanding and use of the myriad of data streams available to them. “When Snapper was founded in 2006, the focus was on transport ticketing in the Wellington market, which gave us some interesting opportunities to learn what customers like that we could bring to other places,” he explained. “We’ve been in this part of the world now for quite some time already, working with the National Transport Authority in Ireland since 2015. They have their own transport card, the Leap card, and we provide all of the re-load applications. We’re processing around two thirds of all of the Leap re-loads through our mobile platform.
