Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire recently celebrated World Wellbeing Week. The operator surprised its passengers on its X5 service with inspirational messages left by the Stagecoach team.

Stagecoach team members wrote over 50 notes, each with a unique saying encouraging wellbeing, which inspired the drivers, admin staff and management in their own lives.

In addition to the messages the buses were also filled with fresh flowers, cushions and free magazines all in an attempt to spread the message and relax passengers.

As part of Stagecoach’s commitment to wellbeing, it has put in place a number of new measures to boost people’s experience in the workplace including offering enhanced notice of shift changes; improving leisure facilities at bus depots; providing opportunities to take part in charity activities to connect and give back to the local community; and offering specialist training for mental health ‘first-aiders’ within its team who are trained to recognise mental health problems at an early stage and provide advice and support.

Rob Jones, Managing Director at Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire, said: “Regular commuters can spend a big portion of their day on the bus. This time can provide a really valuable opportunity to be in the moment and have some ‘me-time’ whether by enjoying a good read, listening to a podcast or a great album, or connecting and having a nice chat with fellow passengers. This Wellbeing Week, we wanted to make this little gesture to encourage people to make the most of their commute and enjoy the journey.”
