Stagecoach is further enhancing its engineering standards to provide more reliable services for customers.
The company is the only major bus operator in the UK to have put in place a new Engineering Management Programme which all existing and new bus engineering managers across the UK will undertake.

The course delivers a bespoke solution to meet Stagecoach’s specific engineering development needs and is tailored to the company’s UK Bus engineering management requirements. The training is delivered by specialist training suppliers and in-house experts.

The course will lead to higher standards of maintenance across the Stagecoach UK Bus division and help provide Stagecoach customers across the country with better, more reliable services.

To complete the programme, engineering managers must complete two modules delivered over a two year period, allowing time to apply the learning in the work environment between modules.

The training course has been recognised by the Institute of the Motor Industry and has been approved as a Quality Assured Programme.

Stagecoach UK Bus Engineering Director, Sam Greer, said: “The introduction of this training course further demonstrates our commitment to improving services for our customers. Through this programme, we aim to further enhance our engineering standards in a way that is tailored to the specific requirements of our business. Vehicle maintenance and reliability are crucial to the successful delivery of our services to passengers and I believe this training will benefit both our staff and our customers.”

Last year Stagecoach announced it had joined forces with the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to develop a bespoke training course to further improve safety standards and vehicle reliability.

The inspection training is available to all engineers and fourth year apprentices across Stagecoach’s UK Bus operations and the course has also been certified by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) as a Quality Assured Programme, reflecting both the quality and robustness.
