Stagecoach has introduced a fleet of six new Optare Solo buses for its Andover town bus network, representing an investment of over £1m. On Wednesday 17 July the company unveiled one of the new buses to the public, showcasing it outside Andover Town Hall.
Marc Reddy, Managing Director for Stagecoach South, said: “We are delighted to be launching these new low emission vehicles which represent a significant investment in our services for the local Andover community. We recognise the importance of local bus services across Andover and the fleet of new buses confirms our commitment to improving bus travel in the region.”
At the launch event, Marc was joined by Cllr Kirsty North, Hampshire County Councillor for Andover North, and Andrew Wilson, Strategic Transport Manager, Hampshire County Council. Welcoming the buses, Councillor North said: “The arrival of a brand-new fleet of Stagecoach buses is great news for residents of the town and surrounding villages. These vehicles are greener to help improve air quality and boast a range of features to make bus travel more appealing. Commercial bus services such as this provide a lifeline for many in our area offering an affordable way to take every day journeys to work, appointments, and for pleasure.”
