Stagecoach has announced a new partnership with NHS England to offer all 1.2 million NHS employees across England with a 10% discount on bus travel.

Commencing on 1 January, the scheme means that NHS staff are now able to purchase a variety of discounted tickets, including one-day, seven-day, 28-day, ‘Flexi 5’ and ‘Flexi 10’ tickets through the Stagecoach app as part of an initiative which the operator says is designed to support NHS workers, offering them an affordable and dynamic travel solution that aligns with varied shift patterns.

Paul Hillman, Business Operations Support Manager at Stagecoach said: “At Stagecoach, we deeply value the incredible dedication and hard work of NHS employees across England. We are proud to offer discounted travel as a small token of our appreciation for the vital role they play in keeping our communities safe and healthy.
This initiative is our way of supporting those who continue to give so much for the wellbeing of others, ensuring that they can travel conveniently and affordably to carry out their essential work.”
Andrew Bradley, Sustainable Travel Lead at NHS England added: “We’re proud to be partnering with Stagecoach to support the NHS workforce who provide invaluable care across the country. By offering discounted and flexible travel options, the partnership aims to make workers commutes easier and more affordable, helping them focus on what matters most – delivering exceptional healthcare to those in need.”

Stagecoach, which has recently discontinued its own ‘Proud to Serve’ strapline in favour of a new ‘we’ve got you’ tag, added that the initiative is part of its wider efforts to support front-line workers, ensuring they have access to low-cost, reliable, and accessible transportation options. Its corporate ticketing programme is available to NHS employees in England, with the exception of those using its buses operated under contract on the Transport for Greater Manchester and Transport for London networks.
